‘Hawaii Five-O’ Counts In Kim

Lost star Daniel Dae Kim has been hired for a leading role in the reboot of Hawaii Five-O, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Kim will recreate the original series' character Detective Chin Ho Kelly. Kelly was played in the classic show by Kam Fong.

Both Hawaii Five-O and Lost are being filmed in (not surprisingly) Hawaii. Kim has played Jin Kwon for six seasons of the latter. ABC's mystery drama recently began airing its final run of episodes. Kim will star on Hawaii Five-O for CBS Studios.

The personnel behind Kim's new gig include Fringe co-creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, as well as CSI: NY executive producer and co-showrunner Peter Lenkov.

The lead role of Detective Steve McGarrett in Hawaii Five-O has not been cast. Moonlight star Alex O'Loughlin is said to be in talks for it. McGarrett was played by Jack Lord in the original series.

In addition to featuring in Lost, Daniel Dae Kim has had recurring or regular roles in several other shows, including the Babylon 5 spin-off Crusade, 24, Star Trek: Enterprise and ER.
